I CANT BREATH !!!

BLACK POWER IS GIVING THE POWER BACK TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT HAD POWER OVER THEIR OWN LIVES .

We have all been guilty at one point or the other of , ignoring or silencing that voice in our head that said, "speak up" or "help that person "or that voice that said, "that is not right stop it from happening".

Maybe it was out of fear ,maybe we where too preoccupied with our own problems or in other cases , maybe we chose to mind our own business.

Well now more than ever we are all aware of it. We have seen what keeping quiet ,doing nothing, avoiding confrontation results in . 

It is a hard pill to swallow when you actually see how people with African decent / people of colour are treated.

Even here in our own country and continent . We see how the government and our own police forces treat us. Like the case of one Samuel Maina who was brutally  beaten by police and when he went to report the matter at the police station nothing was done. If we as Africans truly knew the greatness we come from we would not treat eachother the way we do. 

It is even harder to believe that so many people have been conditioned to think that black people are the problem.

That black people are not human.

To think that it is a norm that so many peoples lives suffer because of the colour of their skin is heart breaking and gut wrenching.

I have always believed that you should always treat people the way you want to be treated or even better. However at a time where our compliance has been taken for granted our silence has been taken for weakness it's just too much to bare.

My heart aches for the memory of George Floyd and all the countless number of people who have suffered because, they where taught that human rights where not written for anyone with African descent but only those of pale/ lighter skin.

I see the pain in all our eyes. The pain in all those protesters who are asking,

"How long will this go on?"

"Why do they hate us so much?"

The frustration as of not getting justice. The frustration that so many black lives get ruined because of racism but nothing is being done.

Do you really blame them for saying enough is enough!

The spirit within us is strong and over the years whatever they have done to us hasn't broken us. Right from the beginning of slavery, colonialism where theys stole our land , abused us , sold us tortured us, locked us up and dehumanized us .

They think we are inhuman because we can survive and have survived and continue to survive despite all they put us through and that is what threatens them. The fact that we continue fighting . The fact that we continue to rise .
They see the power within us and they know that's something they will never have.

THE SPIRIT OF AFRICAN UNITY:OUR BORDERS ARE JUST LINES DRAWN BY OUR COLONIZERS

I AM NOT AFRICAN BECAUSE I WAS BORN IN AFRICA BUT BECAUSE AFRICA WAS BORN IN ME,AND THE POWERS THAT KEEP US UNITED ARE FAR GREATER THAN THE SUPERIMPOSED INFLUENCES THAT KEEP US APART.

Patrice  lumumba said,"These divisions which the colonial powers have always exploited to dominate us.Have played an important role and are still playing that role in the suicide of Africa."

Before we colonization we lived peacefully in unity growing and supporting each other with the occasional cattle raid lol . We then got colonized and although we attained Independence of our countries . It is evident that we never uncolonized our minds.

Watching what has happened in the past and continues to happen In Africa from the Rwandan genocide to Kenya's post election violence to South Africa's xenophobia. To nigeria SARS police brutality. To corrupt leaders leading countries to abject poverty  or to the increased hate towards dark skin and how we bleach our skin to be lighter to be less African .

We have been convinced that we are inferior that we want to eliminate everything that makes us unique.what we forget is that being African comes from within it . The African spirit is greater than anything that happens to us.we where slaves and we now celebrate black billionaires .They hated our music our fashion and now it's what is seen and heard around the world

We where forced to turn against each other as they divided and conquered Africa (I'm sure that phrase began in Africa) and they ensured that we were divided to ensure that they can take from us what is ours.Because they knew the value of what we had and where threatened by the power we would and could have if we came together to improve our continent.

We elect incompetent leaders to speak for us to rule our countries and instead of helping those who elected them all they do is drive us further apart, and have us murder each other while they sit in their luxurious homes and offices unbothered.

Kwame Nkuruma said,"it is clear that we must find an African solution to our problems and that this can only be found in African unity.Divided we are weak,United Africa could become one of the greasy forces for good in the world.

We have to remember that, Hatred paralyzes life. Love releases it.
Hatred confuses life.Love harmonizes it.
Hatred darkens Life. Love luminates it.

History teaches us that unity is strength and cautions us to submerge and overcome our differences in the quest for common goals to strike with all our combined strength for the path to true  African brotherhood is unity."Haile Selassie

We are a representation of what our future will look like. I love a quote by the late
Jommo Kenyatta that says."Our children may learn about heroes of the past,but our task is to make ourselves architects of the future.
If you think you are to small to make a difference clearly you haven't spent the night with a mosquito.
Anything you can do to make the world impacts a person at a time and before you know it you leave a legacy that impacts the lives of countless people.

Let me end this post with these two quotes. Nelson Mandela said,"I dream of an Africa which is in peace with its self ." I feel for us to reach that point we have to understand what the Dali lama meant when he said ," world peace begins with inner peace.

Dear young man,

I have watched you grow and how you stat the tarmac roads that i once walked on bear feet. Mud knee high. 

Lately your attitude has changed. Your clothes too. Your two hundred knock off watch and jeans too tight. You have developed a hop in your step (false confidence). 

It is election time again, and the buyers of strong young men’s soul have been at it again.

You hang precariously on campaign on campaign buses oblivious of the danger, bang your fists on the cars obstructing the way of your musafara.

 Rules change during campaign season. You are now a law unto yourself. Nothing and no one matters. your man has your ear and you think that you are of value to them and feel the fake pride weight of it all wailing from your belly you will shout loud and arguing arrogantly while your accent betrays you.

You take what you what you feel is yours. After all you say “they stole what they have’. You assume no hard work, no sweat for you .You will walk around with glazed eyes then try to cover your face in dark glasses. Only to be let down with a thud. 

Don’t you value your own life? Do you think your efforts and bloodshed will be valued like the freedom fighters! Not at all your bodies will be picked up and taken to the mortuary where your loved ones will be left mourning as they try to pick up the pieces of their lives to move on. 

The elections will be over and the men and women who hired you will not call. They no longer need you. They don’t know you. Depression will set in and it will engulf you like a warm cap this cold July.

Young man life is for living. Not for getting it easy. You cannot be used and stay free to yourself.

Grow up! Live life with purpose. You are created in his image .You are answerable to him.  At the end of your life stand tall before your maker in truth. Having made your country a better place and having made a positive difference in people’s lives. 

LET PEACE PREVAIL IN OUR COUNTRY. 

Don’t be the cause of enmity and hatred.

No one is bigger or greater than the creator.

DEAR POLITICIAN

It is July and it is cold.

I guess you have not noticed in the heat of your political shenanigans. My shoes are worn out from walking to industrial area every morning and evening. My kid sister sells sweets on the streets and hopes to buy me a new pair if her sales are good this month.

Our one room is neat very few items in it. We cook ugali which has now become our delicacy at one corner. My cousin who came months ago looking for greener pastures in the capital is also with us in this aboard. The company he was working for has downsized a word that took us a good hour to explain to him (he thought that it meant he would have to be made small, his own words.)

You may wonder why I am telling you all this, Well I will be voting on the 8^th of 8^th and wait for the results, for my life to go back to normal. Of which I do not mind as long as my country is at peace.

Do not agitate for violence . MY LIFE MATTERS .My sister needs to sell her sweets .So she can finish her hair dressing course. so she can start her own salon .

My cousin needs to get a job so he can send money to educate his brothers and sisters back home.

Your words can burn this country while you ship your Family abroad and leave it burning.

Remember God knows all things, sees all things in the hearts and minds of all.

Kenya is bigger than you. I did not know what or where I was to be born the choice was not mine and you cannot use that against me. God knows what he does and “ Hana Makosa .”You are not the right person to correct him.

PEACE POLITICIAN PEACE

The reason pride lifts you up, is to let you down.

Even postage stamps become useless when stuck to themselves.

Dear Kenyans. For the love that is the Kenyan spirit.For all that we love about Kenya the heart of Africa.

Only in Kenya, can a lion take a walk out of the park And instead of Kenyans going into panic.Create memes that make the long day at work more bearable.After all isn't laughter is the best Medicine.
Kenya the home of the worlds greatest sportsmen and women.
Where you can  find climate so good ,cultures so rich ,beautiful people and beautiful scenery rich in wildlife.
 The new home to ,who come and never want to leave.Yet we fail to see how blessed we are.Where  you will find strangers bonding over a nice cold beer or two who later End up buddies for life because the turn up Is just too real. (For lack of a word to show just how amazing a night out in Kenya can be.)

Only in Kenya, can you find a people so united that they create trends to speak up on whatever they feel is wrong. When a Kenyan has had enough they have had enough  #KenyansOnTwitter.who have made organizations fly in, and apologize directly to the president .For comments that portrayed Kenya in a negative light,and was found disrespectful to Kenyan people.(don't mess with Kenyans attitude)

Only in Kenya ,do you find people who will put their own issues aside. To help out a fellow Kenyan and we have seen it over and over when we donate money, clothing, food and even blood whenever it is asked of us.
Where you will find people ,bonding over Maina and Kingangi in the morning .The intense conversations that make you turn to the person right next to you and have a conversation because that is who we are .We may have  a tough shell ,but we do love a good time and we love it when our country is at peace.
When tragedy strikes you will always see the patriotism in the Kenyan people .When our tourism sector was doing bad and the western country's said Kenya is not safe Kenyans took it upon themselves to be a source of income for our tourism sector not because we are all rich but because we love our country too much.The list is endless.

When everyone thought 5 years ago .That we would see a repeat of the post election violence 2007 .We proved them wrong. When we all united ,to vote in a unlikely duo UhuRuto two people who were at the international criminal court and where being charged for crimes against humanity Who were later acquitted of the charges filled against them.We stood up as one people, because we believed in them and voted them into power.If that doesn't show you how strong willed we are i don't know what will.
However,all of what we love about Kenya is at risk of being destroyed. Unless  we all standup and say enough is enough and say no to violence or in this case peaceful demonstrations that only leave us looking like primitive barbarians in the eyes of the western world, and leave us at the hands of police .
Who are on orders to disperse the crowds of people at any cost.Protests that are called by politicians who sit behind mahogany desks and big leather chairs  cars and houses that cost enough to fund a whole village for more than a generation.Politicians who are willing to pay your hospital bill but not stand with you on these streets of Nairobi.During a protest they called. Can we focus on our lives and not the lives of people who do not care about us and are on there own personal vendettas. 

As children we were all taught our national anthem and made to sing it during assembly,and throughout our lives we continue to learn about the rich history of Kenya if not make new history can we go back to our roots and learn to live the words of our anthem can we be like we were when we first learnt .you are a Kenyan your country is Kenya and love or your country is patriotism in those standard 1 G.H.C books where we learnt the struggle for freedom and why it is important for us to do everything in our power to ensure it remains that way.
