NAIROBI WOMAN

NAIROBI WOMAN
Part 2of2

See part 1

I felt challenged to write this post when someone said in a meeting. ,if you Google nairobi women all you see is negative results ,and without a doubt. We can be intense. However I will give you an aspect ,that is in true fashion .Untold Lives Of Women Kenya so here goes.
See part 1of 2

Walking in town no longer excites her. She walks with a world of thoughts and regrets on her shoulders.
The city has stolen so much from her. She has changed. How she wishes she could go back to the simple days. When she was just a young girl without a care in the world.

Her thoughts overwhelm her as she walks through the streets . Failed relationships. Unrealistic expectations placed on her by society of what she should be, that make her doubt if she is good enough. Her insecurities tend to get the best of her when she is in this mood. Sometimes she will lash out.

Sometimes ,she will revert inwards . Which to onlookers makes her look like a mean person. She had dreams once. To her the sky was the limit . Now it feels like a bottomless pit. She goes to work where she is overworked and under paid. She has a family to work for so she gives it her absolute best because she knows she needs the money. Waiting to be acknowledged with a promotion that never seems to come her way.

She cooks, she cleans, she slaves away. Nobody acknowledges her hard work . So she occasionally buys a new bag, or new hair or new shoes. Because she feels, if she looks good on the outside she will feel it on the inside. Some days it works. Some days it doesn't so walking around in a lesso with a stocking on her head will do just fine.

She has few friends because she couldn't stand the fakeness of the rest. She occasionally has a drink or two to silence the voices and be free for a few hours. The hangover makes the regret even worse because she still has to do her daily chores and support her family as mother, wife, daughter and friend.

The sound of a horn makes her snap out of the world she was in back to her reality. She puts on her fake smile buys ingredients for dinner, engages in small talk and then goes home to fulfil yet another role, but she is fine with it. She knows she is built for whatever comes her way. Because the African woman is "a home maker."  ..........................

So who is the Nairobi Woman you may ask? SHE is an evolution of the nairobi Girl. She is a mother, she is a daughter, she is a friend, she is an employer, she is an employee. She has different roles and goes about them differently. Everyone is different and that what makes us beautiful. If we spend more time building her up instead of tearing her down she will thrive . If you treat her wrong. Wrong is exactly what you will get. Above all DO NOT JUDGE HER because if you where given a mile to walk in her shoes you would crumble. And to you I say what you are going through is not who you are stand tall. Never give up. You are phenomenal.
